Southend Casinos
Southend, or Southend-on-Sea to give it its full title, is a seaside resort town in the county of Essex, 40 miles east of London on the East Coast of England.
In Georgian times, Southend developed into a popular seaside resort due to being so close to England's capital city. Improved access to Southend brought people in large numbers and the economy of the town has been built around tourism ever since.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, given that the town is on the coast, Southend is most famous for its seafront and is home to the longest pleasure pier in the world, which measures in at a shade less than 1.5 miles and has its own train running up and down its length.
Since it was built in 1830, the pier has suffered more than its fair share of setbacks; it has caught fire at least twice and in 1984 had a boat plough through it. Sitting at the entrance of the pier is Adventure Island, a theme park with more than 50 rides, and close by is the Sea-Life Adventure aquarium.
Like its more-famous resort town cousin in the north, Blackpool, Southend has a set of illuminations that are switched on in August to mark the start of the Southend Carnival along the 'Golden Mile'.
Essex has a reputation for its women but also for being a place where you can go and have a great night out and Southend is no exception.
Lots of the county's young and young at heart head down to the Esplanade which is packed full of pubs, bars, music venues and clubs. Other highly rated night spots in town include Papillon, Talk and Chameleon.
As well as the pubs and clubs, Southend is home to three casinos: Genting Club Southend, Mint Casino Southend and Rendezvous Casino Southend.
Genting Club Southend is located at The Western Esplanade and is open seven days a week 24 hours a day. Players can enjoy American and Electronic roulette, punto banco, poker, and blackjack and every Friday Genting Club has live comedy followed by a theme night on Saturday.
Patrons can take part in American and Electronic roulette, three-card poker and blackjack and Mint Casino Southend also offers special poker games every day of the week.
Rendezvous Casino Southend is located at the Kursaal on the Eastern Esplanade, close to the seafront. The casino is open from 12pm until 5am seven days a week and offers blackjack, punto banco, slots, American and electronic roulette, plus three types of poker.
Hungry gamers can enjoy meals at one of two restaurants and then quench their thirst at Fahrenheit ice bar before hitting the tables again.
