Reading Casinos

Reading is a large town in the south of England which sits where the rivers Thames and Kennet merge a short distance from the capital, London.

Reading as a settlement dates back to the 700s although the first recorded documentation of Reading wasn't until 871 when it was the site for the first Battle of Reading between Danish invaders and King Ethelred and his brother Alfred the Great.

Reading expanded dramatically in the 20th Century as the town became an important commercial centre for the south of England and Reading is now known as the commercial capital of the Thames Valley and is home to a number of branches and offices of significant information technology multinationals.

The centre of Reading is renowned for its shopping and is focused around the Broad Street area of the city which has a major shopping centre - Oracle and Broad Street Mall at each end.

Reading is also home to a thriving nightlife scene, something that wasn't always the case. As little as 10 years ago, nocturnal activities in Reading were nothing to write home about but in the last decade, the town has seen a dramatic upturn as a night time hotspot.

These days, the centre of Reading is crammed with stylish restaurants and funky bars, pubs and clubs mostly to be found in the Friar, London and Gun Street areas of the town.

Popular haunts include the Purple Turtle, Zero Degrees, Sahara, the After Dark Club, Malmaison, Revolution to name but a few.

In addition to the extensive range of drinking and eating establishments, Reading is also home to two casinos: Grosvenor Reading and the Genting Club.

The Grosvenor Casino is situated on Queens Road and is open from 2pm until 5am Sundays to Thursdays, and until 6am at the weekend.

The Grosvenor Casino has an excellent selection of games for its customers and features blackjack, American and electron roulette, two types of poker and a number of electronic slots.

The Grosvenor also has a bar, restaurant, poker room and offers experience packages to make the most of a trip to the casino.

The Genting Club which is is set on 3 tiers also includes an Electric Circus casino. It's open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and offers a range of slots with jackpots of up to £4,000 and electronic roulette to its customers.

Food is available all day long and it also contains plasma screen TVs which show sporting events from all over the world around the clock.
