Cardiff Casinos

The city of Cardiff is the capital of Wales and, with a wider metropolitan population of some 1.1 million people, is home to more than a third of the entire population of the country.

Given these facts and figures, it is no surprise to learn that Cardiff is the main commercial centre in Wales and is the country's focal point for culture, leisure, sport and entertainment and the destination of choice for many living in the surrounding areas looking for a night out.

In 2009 Cardiff was voted European City Of Sport in recognition of its track record in hosting major sporting events. The city is home to the impressive Millennium Stadium, which hosts Wales rugby union and football international matches, and was used as the stadium for the FA Cup while Wembley was redeveloped, the Swalec Stadium which hosted the first 2009 Ashes test between England and Australia and the newly opened Cardiff City Stadium.

Many people travel from all over the country to attend these popular sporting events along with concerts in the city, and often turn these visits into weekends complete with a night out in Cardiff's busy and varied pubs, bars and clubs.

The nightlife in Cardiff is focused around six parts of the city: Cardiff Central area, Cardiff's West and East Ends, Cardiff Castle area, Millennium Stadium area, and Cardiff International Arena area.

There is also a thriving gay scene in the Welsh capital, one that draws visitors from all over South Wales.

It is in these parts of the city that visitors will find the best places to enjoy a good night out and also where Cardiff's three casinos can be found: Les Croupiers Cardiff, Gala Electric Casino Cardiff and the Grosvenor Casino Cardiff.

Les Croupiers was formerly located in close proximity to the Millennium Stadium but as of March, 2010, moved to a purpose-built venue in Leackwith opposite the new Cardiff City Stadium. The original venue offered gamers the standard gaming fare - blackjack, American roulette, three-card poker and more - and in addition, the new venue offers Pai Gow poker and electronic roulette and will host Texas Hold'em Poker and Mahjong tournaments.

The Gala Electric Casino is located at the UGC Cinema Complex on Mary Ann Street in close proximity to Cardiff International Arena. One of a nationwide chain of casinos, Gala Electric Cardiff offers patrons eight different games, hosts monthly slot tournaments, has food and drink options and is open 24 hours a day.

The Grosvenor Casino Cardiff can be found at The Red Dragon Centre on Atlantic Wharf. The Grosvenor offers the standard casino gaming fair - blackjack, American roulette and three-card poker - and also has a restaurant serving up snacks to full meals and a fully stocked bar which serves until 5am.

In addition to sporting venues and popular night time hot spots, Cardiff has a thriving performing arts scene, a long history and a number of popular landmarks and castles which make the city one of the most popular in Britain.
