Sheffield Casinos

The city of Sheffield in South Yorkshire in the north of England is one of the largest in the United Kingdom.

Like Rome, Sheffield is built on seven hills. It is one of the greenest cities with 61% of Sheffield given over to green space and has an estimated two million trees - more than any other city in Europe.

Known as the Steel City because of its long and successful steel making past, Sheffield struggled in the 1970s and 1980s following the decline in the industry in the UK thanks largely to competition from overseas.

In the last decade, the city centre has been the subject of a large-scale regeneration program which has drastically altered the face of the city making it one of England's most attractive.

With two large universities - Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam - Sheffield has the largest student population in the country; 54,000 students call the city home during term time.

Because of the large student body, Sheffield has an extremely busy and ever-expanding nightlife scene. Having to cater for almost 60,000 students, the city has a large number of pubs, restaurants, clubs and bars which appeal to all tastes and interests.

The most popular hotspots can be found on West Street and Division Street close to the city centre, while Ecclesall Road, one of the main student accommodation areas, has more than its fair share.

Bia Hoi, RSVP, Bar One, The Cavendish, Vodka Revolution are just a handful of the more popular bars, while many a night concludes in Embrace (formerly Kingdom), The Leadmill, Corporation or one of the city's three casinos: G Casino, Napoleon's Ecclesall Road and Napoleon's Owlerton.

Sheffield's G Casino is located on Duchess Street reasonably close to the city centre and is open 24 hours a day. G Casino offers the standard blackjack, roulette and poker tables, slots with jackpots of up to £4,000 and a separate 110-seat poker room.

The casino restaurant is open from 6pm until 2am every day; the bar stays open late and has live bands every Friday and Saturday nights.

Napoleon's Sheffield Owlerton casino is located on Livesey Street near Hillsborough Stadium around 2.2 miles from the city centre and is open seven days a week from 4pm until 6am.

Two types of poker and roulette are available as well as blackjack, electronic slots and a poker room. The bar opens at 4pm until 3am and the restaurant has three options: the full dinner menu, supper menu and lite bite menu.

The second Napoleon's on Ecclesall Road offers much of the same, opening at 7pm and closing at 5am Sundays to Thursdays and at 6am on Fridays and Saturdays. The Eccelsall Road location also has punto banco as one of its games and its bar stays open until 4am.
