Luton Casinos

Luton, in the county of Bedfordshire, is a large town with a population of more than 200,000 people and is located just 31 miles north of London.

Settlements in around present day Luton date as far back as 250,000 years ago but the town itself is thought to have been founded in the sixth century with a population of just 700-800.

The town suffered a large amount of damage during World War Two and a lot of Luton was rebuilt as a result. More development took place in the second half of the 20th century and that was followed by a major urban regeneration program after the turn of the millennium.

The majority of the regeneration work has taken place in the town centre and the changes saw Luton win a Gold Standard Award for the Town Centre Environment in the yearly awards handed out by the British Council of Shopping Centres.

Being so close to London many people in the area make the short trip to the nation's capital for a night on the town but Luton itself has more than its fair share of restaurants, bars, pubs, clubs and casinos.

Restaurants are scattered throughout the town but a large percentage of Luton's pubs, bars and clubs are found within staggering distance of the University of Bedfordshire's campus. Popular haunts include Chicago Rock Cafe, Rufios and The Exchange for pre-club drinking, while Liquid Nightclub and Charlie Browns are considered to be Luton's best clubs.

Luton is also home to a couple of the more relaxed UK casinos I have reviewed: Circus Casino Luton and the G Casino Luton.

Circus Casino Luton on Skimpot Road is open seven days a week from 2pm until 4am but offers 24-hour gaming in Electric Circus Casino where gamers can play slots and electronic roulette every hour of the day.

The main part of the casino, Circus, offers players blackjack, punto banco, three-card poker, and American and electronic roulette, plus offers Texas Hold'em poker tournaments.

The brand new Circus Bar and Grill opened on September 10, 2010, serving food from 7pm until midnight on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, while bar snacks are available from 3pm until 3am, and drinks can be bought until 3.30am.

G Casino Luton can be found at number 35, Park Street West and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

G Casino offers blackjack, roulette, poker and slots and has regular poker tournaments and private poker packages available in the poker room.

The fully licensed bar at G Casino Luton is open from midday until 6am, and serves bar snacks from 3pm until 3am, plus it has an early morning breakfast menu available from 7.30 until 11.30, and a midday until 3pm lunch menu.

The G Casino's Gallery restaurant is open every night of the week, serving up stylish cuisine from 7pm until 11.30, while the casino presents live entertainment every Friday and Saturday night.
